Business is Thriving in Brno; Brno Has Been Awarded the City for Business Award Again

Fifteen thousand data and 205 municipalities are the numbers of this year’s 16th year of the research City for Business. Therefore it serves as a source of essential data for strategic planning of the development of Czech cities and municipalities. It assesses their business potential and the approach of public administration. Furthermore, the research also develops a discussion on the development of the business environment in the Czech Republic.

This year, Brno again won the silver position in the national final.

Anna Putnová (first on the right), Brno’s city councillor for innovation and cooperation with research institutions, received the award at the Cafe de Paris in Prague. Lysá nad Labem came first, while Pilsen took the bronze.

The favourable conditions for business in Brno are illustrated by the very high number of economic entities (companies and tradesmen) per capita. Consequently, the above-average share of companies with more than 250 employees in the total number of companies. The city supports investment in public transport and culture. Moreover, Brno keeps up the high quality of the dedicated website for entrepreneurs, who can find the necessary information.

However, the annual ranking of the best cities reflects their significant business potential in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the awarded cities are the carriers of new ideas and evidence-based modern projects.

Overall, Datank conducted the research announced by the Ekonom weekly. The partners are the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic, the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic, CzechInvest and the construction group VINCI Construction CS.
