The Days of Electron Microscopy will take place this year from March 23 to 29. Under the motto “75 Years of Discovering the Invisible,” you can take part in activities prepared by the Brno Observatory and Planetarium in collaboration with electron microscope manufacturers and other partners, with the support of the City of Brno and the South Moravian Region.
Come and explore the secrets of the microworld!

This year marks 75 years since the construction of the first Czechoslovak electron microscope. It was built in 1951 in Brno, where this industrial field continues to develop today. Each year, one-third of all electron microscopes in the world are produced here, revealing the mysteries of nature and technology. This year’s symbol and mascot is the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli), which was among the first biological samples observed using an electron microscope. Visitors will be drawn to its 6-meter model, representing a 3-million-times magnification of the bacterium.
From the program of the Days of Electron Microscopy—organized with the participation of 20 institutions and companies—you can choose events on the website dembrno.cz. Most events are free of charge, but registration is required for selected parts of the program.
