It’s official! The Czech Republic has successfully defended its title, winning the Green Exhibitor Award for the most sustainable exhibition at the prestigious global innovation fair for cities. The Czechs are bringing home a major green victory from Barcelona!

Thanks to the support and understanding of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the creators opted for a bold, playful, and sustainable booth concept. The Brno section, in particular, was full of brilliant ideas on how to creatively reuse materials. Brno is fortunate to have true professionals from Brno Trade Fairs, who built the entire exhibition using modular and reusable materials:
Sustainability was reflected even in the smallest details: the marmalade given to visitors as a gift was made from orange peels left over from last year’s juice-making at the expo.

Winning the Green Exhibitor Award has provided a huge boost to continue with a joint national exhibition at this prestigious forum. Once again, it has been proven that unity is strength, and that collaboration is key for the Czech Republic to achieve significant international success in a competitive environment. We are proud that IN.BRNO could contribute to the Czech presentation and that Brno’s atmosphere left a strong impression on visitors.

We are preparing a summary of the Barcelona Expo, where we will highlight projects presented by colleagues from the Brno innovation ecosystem – Brno Trade Fairs, JIC, and JINAG. We will also mention the signing of an important memorandum of understanding and cooperation for the Smart City Expo World Congress and URBIS The Smart City Meetup. At the same time, we want to thank the key players who made the Czech national presentation possible. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is also preparing a final press release on the Czech participation.

The Smart City Expo World Congress has been held in Barcelona since 2011. It is the largest and most influential global event for cities and urban innovation. Its goal is to accelerate and enhance the transformation of cities into green, efficient, and prosperous centers where people enjoy a high quality of life.
This year, 27,104 visitors came to explore technological innovations in urban services.
